I read the other day that “knowledge is power”.  A common enough phrase but I don't agree with it.  Knowledge isn’t power - intelligence is power.  What's the difference, you ask?  Well let's have a look at the meanings according to Wikipedia:

Information and skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject.

in·tel·li·gence

The ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. 

I would rather intelligence than knowledge, and this can be in regards to information too.  Any service provider can collect data, but the differentiator is one that can acquire the data and apply their knowledge of your business to make it useful and relevant to your role.  

If I could picture a perfect world for us then I'd want one where we’d all have access to supply chain information.  I’d want data providers to intelligently collate the raw data into meaningful information, not one that displays graphs just because they can.  And armed with this, I am positive we could all improve our business efficiencies.
